February 4, xxxx: Nina is a 3-4 year old brindle Boxer who was originally adopted from the local Animal Shelter just three months ago and has since lived a life of deprivation....outside in the cold backyard...on a chain, without a dog house, food, water, love, attention, affection, socialization and exercise (see 3rd pic). After several warnings from the Animal Control Officer, she was relinquished her to the Animal Control Officer in Bayard, NM,, rather than pay her numerous fines (of which she is being taken to court). After a week, Nina officially belonged to the town of Bayard and with good food, she's a few pounds heavier. Nina was given to PDR on Feb. 4, xxxx so that we can find her FURever home. This special girl was literally starving for food and attention, yet she still trusts and accepts people! Her first night here we set her up in her private, quiet dog run 12 hours ago and this morning when I came out to check on her she showered me with kisses, a wagging butt (her tail is docked) and lots of honks and snorts! She loves her new "digs", her big, warm dog house, her furry neighbors, and her bowls filled with good food and clean water! She gets along with smaller dogs and we have not put her in with other dogs her size at this time. She pulls a bit on a leash, but with dog obedience or a Halti collar, that will be remedied. Nina is on the small side for a boxer. She is spayed and now is current on shots.
